About the Shelter

Council's animal shelter houses dogs and cats which have been found stray, abandoned, or seized. If the animal cannot be returned to its owner, the shelter seeks new homes for them. The shelter operates under a 'No-kill' policy, whereby only those a dog or cat assessed to be either a danger or having an illness that would affect its quality of life is euthanased.

Dogs and cats may be surrendered to the shelter but only under specific circumstances, and a charge is applicable. Please contact council to discuss your particular situation.

All dogs and cats rehoused are DESEXED, lifetime registered, vaccinated and microchipped. They also leave the shelter with a collar and council made tag.
